Do It For the Lulz

To Julian Dibbell,

"The Assclown Offensive: How to Enrage the Church of Scientology" shows Project Chanology as an epic fail. It is nowhere near the ranks of online protests as it just is terrorism.
I personally do not know about Scientology, nor took the time to understand it. And this seems to be the case for these "trolls" taking part in the terrorist acts against Scientology. And for what, a Tom Cruise video?
It is embarrassing that people would do something like this.  This even gives a horrible name to the website "4chan" for its users representing it this way.

As someone who enjoys memes, I would be offended to be linked to the people performing the harassment.  I do not even understand their motivation behind their actions or what the ultimate goal was.  Clearly, they were not getting anywhere and just making fools of themselves. At least behind the internet, they could hide. But, when they brought their actions into the real world, they had nothing to stand for.
This was made clear at the trial when they were refused the privilege to wear masks. They had no idea what they were doing.  It is almost possible to say that being in this online group almost brainwashed them to being a collective that had purpose, but when it came to the real world and real identities, there was a serious reality check.
